Baked Shrimp Cakes & the Artist's Way

Issue #1

Recipe

Hello Reader,

I know, it's been awhile. You might not even remember subscribing to this email list but you did.

This week's recipe is a redo/ reshoot of one from the archives. These tender and crispy shrimp cakes are made with sustainable North Atlantic or Oregon Shrimp, baked instead fried, and topped with a bright citrus aioli.

Fiction

Okay, so not really fiction, but for those of you who want more than just the recipe.

It snowed here in Maine yesterday, not a cute little dusting but a full on schools closed, power went out for several hours and we were lucky it was just a few hours, Nor'Easter (a storm that has nothing to do with Easter but does get you headlines like this) but it's supposed to be clear skies on Monday for the eclipse so suddenly it feels like things are happening.

Things like this newsletter!!! After months, or years, or dog months, or cat years, I've started writing again. I pulled out my father's copy of The Artist's Way and I've been doing my morning pages and taking myself on artist dates and here I am on chapter seven and I see that my father took a pencil and pointed at this sentence. "The success of a creative recovery hinges on our ability to move out of the head and into action."

On his death bed I saw my father rage against the dying of the light when he realized that he could not write that book 'tomorrow' - I'm not sure I've got a book tomorrow but I've got this today and now- so do you.

See you next week!

Melinda

My goal is to keep Recipe Fiction, the website, and Recipe Fiction, the newsletter ad free. If you would like to help with this please
