Hello Reader,
In high school the yearbook committee raised funds by selling candy grams- I don’t remember if they were chocolates or roses or balloons or carnations and candy hearts but I do remember that they were delivered during 4th period, the one before lunch.
My fourth period class was, what was called at the time “home economics”, and that class was teaming with popular kids- cheerleaders, football players, the girl that was one half of the 'it couple'. A lot of candy came into Mrs. T’s home ec room on February 14th but none of it was for me.
This sums up my feelings about Valentines’ Day - I don’t like it.
Then I started Recipe Fiction and felt obligated to produce heart shaped things. In hind site I should’ve gone pun.
Why not take olive me (Bloody Mary Chicken Pot Pie with Olive Biscuit Crust- and yes I cut the biscuits with a heart shaped biscuit cutter, please forgive me)
Take another pizza my heart (individual jalapeño popper breakfast pizzas)
You make miso very (berry?) happy (I don't have any miso recipes on the site it turns out but...Strawberry Smash Cocktail with Gin and Basil)
Anyway all of this is just to say this is my candy gram to you!
A balloon,
a flower,
a card.
Delivered to your desk in the middle of fourth period because you are special.
Fiction
not mine but from Philip K. Dick - Science Fiction Stories 1953
The Eyes Have It
See you soon!
